Q: What membership benefits
do alumni receive?
A: Alumni receive a
quarterly eNewsletter, discounted alumni merchandise, discounted
admission to alumni events, networking, and volunteer
opportunities.
Q: Are membership dues
tax-deductible?
A: Because
membership dues
entitle alumni to receive certain benefits, membership dues do not
qualify as a matching gift or a tax deduction under IRS
guidelines.
Q: What are the different
types of membership?
A: There are
four types of
membership, individual, family, recent grad
and student. Individual
membership is $40; family membership is $60;
recent RHS grad is free for one year following graduation and
student (college) is $20.
Q:
I went to school
at Roosevelt but I didn’t graduate. Can I join the association?
A: Yes.
Membership is open
to anyone who ever attended school in the Roosevelt School
district as well as friends, family, and supporters of Roosevelt.
Q: How do I join?
A: Please visit our
membership page to join online.
Q: Do you accept credit
cards?
A:
Yes. We accept secure payments using PayPal.
Q: What are
membership dues
used for?
A: Dues are used to support
alumni, school, and community programs. Please ask about
upcoming
events and planned programs.
Q: How many members do you
have now?
A: Our
membership has about
35+ members and growing from an alumni base of 5,000+.
Q: Will I receive a
membership
card?
A: No, members will receive
a unique membership number that we suggest you maintain in your
records. We plan to distribute membership cards in the near
future.
Q: Does
the association accept donations?
A: Yes,
all donations are tax-deductible.

Q: I have a new
name, title, or address. How do I let the Alumni Association
know?
A: To change your name,
title, or address, send your old and new contact information to
robd58@yahoo.com.
Q: I do not live in the NY
metropolitan area. Can I start an alumni chapter?
A: The alumni association
may consider alumni charters in areas with large concentrations of
Roosevelt alumni. In areas where a large number of alumni reside,
the association encourages individual alumni to volunteer to serve
as key contacts. We will note those alumni who have expressed an
interest in establishing an alumni charter. Should the
association determine a need for volunteers in those areas, we
will notify our key contacts.
Q: What will the
association do with the information it collects from members?
A: The Roosevelt Alumni
Association respects the privacy of our members and will not rent
nor sell our membership list. Information that you supply will be
used to study the demographics of our
membership base and assess
the talent and resource pool available to provide programs. Only
contact information that you designate will be shared with other
members.

Organizational Structure

Why was this organization founded?
A: The Roosevelt
Alumni Association was founded by a group of alumni who felt
helpless hearing the state of the
Roosevelt school district and
community from family, friends, and the media. These alumni felt
a deep sense of pride knowing that their achievements and
grassroots approach could help build a greater school and
community.
Q: Is the Roosevelt Alumni
Association a non-profit?
A: Yes. The Roosevelt
Alumni Association, Inc. is incorporated in the state of New York
as a non-profit corporation. We a tax-exempt 501 (c) 3.
Q: Where are the offices of
the alumni association located?
A:
The alumni association operates with a “virtual office” using
online forums, email, and conference calls to conduct meetings and
carry on alumni business.

Q: Who governs the
Roosevelt Alumni Association?
A: A
board of directors
governs the association. The boards of directors are volunteer
alumni who are responsible for creating and implementing the
strategic plan of the association.

Q: When does the alumni
association meet?
A: The alumni association
hosts a monthly meeting where all members hear up-to-date
information and provide input on future activities. This meeting
is held on the first Sunday of the month from 6-8pm at the
Bristal, 40 Merrick Road, East Meadow, NY
Q: I think the Roosevelt
Alumni Association is great. How can I help?
A: A great way to help is by
joining the organization as an individual or family member. We
have an immediate need for individuals or organizations that can
provide accounting and legal expertise pro bono, volunteers for
career/alumni day, and leadership positions as
board members.
